NetSupport's cloud services deliver the perfect recovery solution for BGB
United Kingdom

NetSupport, along with its business continuity partner CWL, has helped Grantham-based BGB Innovation implement a new ‘cloud’ based disaster recovery program.

BGB, a leading manufacturer of electrical slip ring systems, underwater lighting and camera solutions and fibre optic rotary joints, was faced with the challenge of ensuring the availability of critical systems across its operations, both local and internationally, in the event of disruption at its UK HQ.

NetSupport implemented a fully resilient solution locally, and then replicated it at its Market Deeping data centre utilising Hyper-V Virtualisation, HP Servers and Veeam for granular recovery and full site disaster recovery.

Hyper-V fitted the requirement perfectly in terms of offering a reliable and cost efficient solution. Having worked with Veeam on a number of successful implementations, we knew it was the ideal protection and management solution for the Hyper-V infrastructure we were putting in place.

With its bespoke data centre, NetSupport is able to deliver a fully protected service, guaranteeing no loss of data, which for BGB was critical to it achieving its objectives.

Thanks to the infrastructure now in place, BGB can tolerate local site loss and individual hardware failures, and maintain operations with minimal interruption. This means the business can continue to deliver for its key clients around the globe.

Commenting on the success of the implementation, BGB Managing Director David Holt said:

“The development of our business and systems naturally resulted in the requirement for a thorough ICT review. Not only did we have internal drivers for change; large, multi-national customers required the confidence that our commercial and manufacturing data is held and run on resilient platforms. We did have independent self-control of server backups, however NetSupport’s suggestion to utilise its data centre for that purpose has provided great confidence that our data is safe, and highly available.

“We had initial scepticism of virtualised environments. However our relationship with NetSupport, and hence our faith in them and their recommendations, made our decisions for us. We now have a scalable, flexible solution, providing clear server separation and the ability to quickly specify, deploy and, if necessary, restore new desktops.”
